Martina Franca: the streets of the aqueduct, the hidden river of Puglia

The historic hidden river of Puglia crosses unique and evocative environments, characterized by Mediterranean scrub and trulli, the typical conical constructions.
An exceptional work still today that holds several world records, whose importance was already intuited by the Romans and still today of fundamental importance for subsistence in a land of water.
The route is walkable for a different tourism, eco-sustainable and respecting the nature and history of the area.

The route is part of the national cycling route (the Apennine cycle route). The stretch is included in the territory of Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica for a total of about 10 kilometers, part of a complex project of over 250 km.
Along this hidden urban architecture, we will meet the spontaneous Mediterranean scrub of the high Salento, the medicinal, seasonal edible and curative varieties typical of the area, trulli and dry stone walls built according to ancient techniques, of which we will appreciate their important function of safeguarding the pugliese plant and animal ecosystem. The tour ends with a tasting of typical local products and tasting of extra virgin olive oil from ancient olive trees.
